Climbers & Creepers

In Malaysia, climbers and creepers are essential for providing vertical shade, cooling down concrete walls, or creating "living fences." Because of our year-round heat, these plants grow much faster here than in temperate climates. 

Type of climbers and creepers in Malaysia :

1. Flowering Climbers (Full Sun)

These are the showstoppers of Malaysian gardens. They need a sturdy trellis, pergola, or fence to climb. Thunbergia (Bengal Clock Vine), Bauhinia Kockiana, Climbing Rose, Garlic Vine

2. Practical & Edible Climbers

These provide a "functional" garden by offering food or drink ingredients.  Butterfly Pea (Bunga Telang), Passion Fruit (Markisa), Betel Leaf (Sirih)

3. Creepers for Walls (The "Green Wall" Look)

These plants attach themselves directly to masonry or wood using "sucker" roots or tendrils. Ficus Pumila (Creeping Fig), Money Plant (Pothos). 

4. Scented Climbers

These  release a heavy, sweet scent & clean fragrance. Stephanotis (Bridal Bouquet), Rangoon Creeper (Akar Dani)
